Thank you to all who helped make the first Edina Day of Service a huge success! We had over 30 project sites all over the community, with over 1300 hundred people giving more than 5000 hours of time!

There were many, many highlights to the Day! The Girl Scouts collected 10,000 books which the families of Normandale Elementary sorted, cleaned and then delivered to the Hennepin County Medical Center.

Boy Scouts cleaned up Nine Mile Creek in Heights Park and picked up over 25 bags of trash and also found construction timbers, a tire, an electric bug zapper and even a kitchen sink!

A food drive organized by the Edina Football Association brought in 135 pounds of food that was donated to VEAP. The high school's Volunteer Club collected 40 pounds of personal care items that were also donated to VEAP.

Fairview Southdale employees partnered with the Edina Care Center to assemble 100 care packages for our troops.

There are too many more projects and their outcomes to report here. Trees were planted, mittens were knitted, and coats were collected, among other projects. More importantly, we took a few hours out of our busy lives to work together for the greater good. We made stronger connections with our neighbors and friends. We shared our values with our families. We more closely united our community - whether you live or learn, work or worship in the city. For that, we should be proud of ourselves and inspired to make the next Edina Day of Service an even greater success.

THANK YOU!
